Focus group

SUBJECT: The place of the family in the Irish language strategy: What are the requirements?

A series of focus groups

DATES: 6-9 /06/2022

Glór na nGael is organising a series of focus groups for families in the six counties between 6-9 June 2022.

The focus groups are being organised on behalf of the Department for Communities, which is preparing a strategy for the Irish language as part of the commitments arising from the New Decade New Approach document.

We will be discussing the place of the family in the Irish language strategy to see what the needs of families are. We would like to have families who are raising their children through the medium of Irish or bilingually with us so that their needs regarding the Irish language strategy can be heard.

It will be a welcoming, non-judgemental space with a facilitator present to lead the discussion.

This feedback from parents is part of the process and will help to develop an Irish language strategy. Everyone’s views will be respected and everything said during the discussion will be kept confidential. There is also an online session available on Zoom for those who cannot attend the face-to-face meetings.

Monday, June 6 19.00: An Carn, Carn Tóchair

Tuesday, June 7 19.40: Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, Belfast

Wednesday, June 8 19.40: Online on Zoom

Thursday, June 9 19.00: Dún Uladh, Omagh

All parents are welcome to share their views. Registration is available by emailing ceithleann@glornangael.ie (Belfast & online) or sinead@glornangael.ie (Carn Tóchair and Omagh)
