Feis Charn Tóchair – A celebration of culture and Irish language revival
Feis Charn Tóchair is one of the cultural highlights of the year here in Mid-Ulster. A wide range of competitions are organised to celebrate our culture and Irish language revival in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The best of music and singing will be heard on Feis day and parents and grandparents will hear their children and grandchildren using their Irish in a natural and confident manner.
Competitions include Poetry Recital, Conversation, Gaeltacht Scholarships, Fáinne exams, Art, Writing, Traditional Singing and Traditional Music competitions.

There is no charge to enter the writing competition A short story, a newspaper article or a diary in Irish ranging from 150 to 500 words. At primary level, the pieces can be handwritten. At secondary level the pieces must be printed with double spacing between the lines.
Only one poem per pupil may be entered to this section. Theme: Open choice. It is essential all poems are in Irish. At primary level: Poems may be handwritten. Each poem must have at least three verses. At secondary level: The poems must be typed with double spacing between the lines. Poems must have at least four verses. Deadline for entries: Primary level: Wednesday 22nd April Secondary level: Wednesday 22nd April
Part-scholarships are available in this competition*. An scrudú béil (conversation) is required to obtain a scholarship.
Cúpla Focal (A few words) Not suitable for children attending Bunscoil or Gaelscoil. Suitable for children attending English Medium Primary and Secondary School.
